Selective Mutism: Getting The Word Out was graciously chosen to participate in Rockford's film festival this year. Some folks in the audience were retired special education teachers and showed great interest in helping to spread awareness for Selective Mutism within the school system.
The Education Club
It was an amazing experience to host the film in a University setting and have professors, university students and the public watch it altogether. And the best part was the Q&A afterwards! Answering questions about SM and engaging in dialogue was a great way to spread awareness and dispel the myths surrounding this often misunderstood disorder.
Homewood Public Library
We recently screened the film at Homewood library and were deeply impacted after meeting a family who had traveled from Indiana. A week later, the mother told us, “I am still thinking about how emotional my son got when he heard from the kids in the film who shared his journey with SM.” Recognizing that they are not alone is critical, and we hope this film can help unite the SM Community.
